Private Eden

Oil on Canvas (100 x 80 cm), 2025

Private Eden is a figurative oil painting exploring desire and agency; the moment where temptation becomes conscious choice.

Adam inhabits a secluded, internal landscape. There is no serpent, no prohibition, no external gaze. What remains is the self alone with its appetite: but aware, deliberate, and unashamed of wanting.

The work reframes Eden not as innocence, but as permission. Lush colour and tactile surface heighten the sense of immediacy, suggesting that paradise is not a moral state but a private agreement one makes with oneself. What is at stake is not purity, but authorship: the power of still choosing desire without needing absolution.
