The Drowning Heart That Refuses To Sink

Oil on Canvas (100 x 80 cm), 2026

The Drowning Heart That Refuses to Sink is a large-scale figurative oil painting exploring vulnerability, endurance and emotional resistance.

A figure drifts beneath the surface, weighed down by attachments that once promised access or meaning, now inert. There is no visible struggle. Instead, the body floats, caught between release and instinct, led by the heart’s unconscious impulse to rise.

The work reflects on emotional rupture and healing without spectacle. It suggests that recovery does not always arrive through dramatic change, but possibly through a single, deliberate choice: not to sink.
